Sullivan Soil & Water Conservation District offering fish stocking - Times Herald-Record

LIBERTY - The Sullivan County Soil & Water Conservation District is accepting orders from those in the county who want to stock their ponds with largemouth bass, rainbow or brook trout, fathead minnows or crawfish this fall. Trout should be stocked only in cold-water ponds.

The District will take orders through Monday, Sept. 14. The pickup date in Monday, Sept. 21. 

The opening of the trout season is usually celebrated with the "First Cast Ceremony" at Junction Pool, where the Beaverkill and Willowemoc rivers meet this past April.

Anyone who wants to stock a pond with fish must apply for a fish stocking permit through the Department of Environmental Conservation's Region 3 office in New Paltz.
