The city of Iowa Park will be stocking Lake Gordon with adult-size channel catfish Thursday and temporarily closing the lake to fishing in preparation for the annual Fish Fest.
The annual event will begin at 9 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 10.
The event is sponsored by the Iowa Park Community Development Corporation and other organizations.
Fishing is free for participants 16 years old or younger.
Prizes and trophies will be awarded age categories: 6 and under, 7-11 and 12-16. There will also be a randomly drawn prize.
A registration form must be completed and turned in at the event. Pre-registration is not required. A parent or guardian must sign a waiver of responsibility.
Anglers may bring their own fishing equipment, but the Texas Junior Anglers will also be on site to provide equipment to borrow and bait.
The lake will reopen to fishing for the public at noon, after the event.
All state, federal and local game and fish laws apply and must be observed.
