GRAND RAPIDS, MI — The season of Lent has started, and that means residents have multiple options around the community to purchase fish dinners on Fridays for the next several weeks.

While the COVID-19 pandemic forced some groups to cancel, many of the area’s classic affairs are still holding strong but may look a bit different with carry-out, curbside pickup and drive thru options.

Here’s a mix of places for Lenten fish fries or soup suppers organized by Catholic churches and high schools, American Legions and other groups beginning as early as Friday, Feb. 19:

West Catholic High School

1801 Bristol Ave NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49504

Method: Drive-thru only

When: Fridays Feb. 19 through March 26 from 4:30-7pm

Cost: $11 (Seniors 60+ get $1 off), pizza and fries $5, onion rings $5

Menu: fried lake perch, fried walleye and breaded shrimp – all served with homemade coleslaw and choice of French fries or baked potato. The site is also offering cheese pizza from Uccello’s and homemade onion rings.

Knights of Columbus #3104

1140 Muskegon Ave. NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49504

Where: West Leonard Banquet Facility

Method: Take-out and limited dine-in

When: Fridays Feb. 19 to April 2 from 4:30-7 p.m.

Cost: $10

Menu: Fried fish, French fries, coleslaw, garlic bread

Holy Trinity Parish

Where: Holy Trinity Catholic School Family Center

Method: Drive-thru only

When: Fridays, Feb. 19 through March 26 from 5-7 p.m.

Cost: Dinners $10, macaroni and fries $5

Menu: Baked or fried pollock, bakes or French fried potatoes, macaroni & cheese, coleslaw, cookie

Knights of Columbus #4362

Where: KC Banquet Center

When: Fridays Feb. 19 through April 2 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.

Method: Drive up open from 4:30 -7 p.m.

Cost: $10 all dinners

Menu: Fried fish, fries, coleslaw, dinner roll

Casino Club of Grand Rapids

Method: Drive-up and to-go only

When: Fridays, Feb-April 2. from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., 5:30-7 p.m.

Cost: $10

Menu: Fish, fries, coleslaw, bread

St. Jude Parish – Soup Dinner

Where: Millennium entrance

Method: Drive-up only

When: Friday Feb. 19, March 5 and 19 from 5-7 p.m.

Cost: $6 for one quart of soup, $5 for 12 ounce of soup

Menu: Soup, dinner roll, crackers

American Legion Post 305

9548 Cherry Valley Ave. SE, Caledonia, MI 49316

When: Fridays Feb. 26 through April 2 from 5-7 p.m.. People are asked to preorder meals the Friday before.

Cost: $10

Menu: Two pieces each beer and regular battered Alaskan Pollock, tartar sauce, fries and ketchup, homemade coleslaw and white bread with butter.

St. Isidore Church

625 Spring Ave. NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49503

Where: Parish Life Center gym.

Method: Take-out only

When: Fridays, Feb. 19 through March 26 from 4:30-7 p.m.

Cost: Adults $10, Children (ages 5-12) $5, Children (4 and under) free, cash or check only

Menu: Baked or fried Alaskan Pollock, macaroni & cheese, fries or baked potatoes, coleslaw or apple sauce.

St. John Vianney Parish

Method: Drive-thru only

Menu: All you can eat fried and baked Pollock, fries baked potato coleslaw green beans rolls and fried shrimp, macaroni and cheese, punch and coffee

Marne Lions Club

Where: Interurban Depot Café

Method: Take out only

When: Fridays Feb. 12 through April 2 from 5-8 p.m.

Cost: $10 adults, $5 kids

Menu: Fish, coleslaw, fries or baked potato, or beef and bean burrito with chips. All meals include dessert.
