Welcome to Friday’s Marlins (0-1) vs. Rays (1-0) game thread.
Fish Picks has indeed returned for a third season! After receiving picks from 200-plus unique users in 2020 on fishstripes.com and the @fishstripes Twitter account, we are aiming for even more engagement. It’s always free to participate and the prizes are real.
Fans can find the props within game threads like this one or as the pinned tweet on our Twitter account. They will be posted at least four hours prior to the game’s scheduled first pitch (assuming both the Marlins and their opponent declare a probable starting pitcher by then). Generally, there will be five props per game, four about individual/team stats and the final one always being the moneyline pick (which team will win). Picks are only valid if commented or tweeted to us prior to first pitch.
Your goal every day is to “pick a perfect game” and choose the correct outcome for each prop. Whoever has the most perfect games each month receives a t-shirt of their choice from our partners at Legends of Dade!
The Fish Picks leaderboard will be updated daily.
Rays Lineup
- 1B Yoshi Tsutsugo
- LF Austin Meadows
- RF Randy Arozarena
- 2B Brandon Lowe
- 3B Yandy Díaz
- SS Joey Wendle
- CF Manuel Margot
- C Francisco Mejía
- LHP Ryan Yarbrough (2020 season stats: 3.56 ERA, 3.80 FIP, 18.8 K%, 25.1 HardHit% in 55.2 IP)
Notes: Lineup changes for the Rays in the No. 6, No. 7 and No. 8 spots...You may recall Yarbrough’s last outing against the Marlins (Aug. 28, 2018) when he breezed through 6 2⁄3 scoreless innings on an efficient 79 pitches. His pitching style is a stark contrast from Tyler Glasnow’s in terms of velocity, movement and release point.
Marlins Lineup
- SS Miguel Rojas
- CF Starling Marte
- 1B Jesús Aguilar
- RF Garrett Cooper
- 3B Brian Anderson
- LF Adam Duvall
- 2B Jazz Chisholm Jr.
- C Jorge Alfaro
- RHP Pablo López (2020 season stats: 3.61 ERA, 3.09 FIP, 24.6 K%, 32.3 HardHit% in 57.1 IP)
Notes: Corey Dickerson takes a seat against the southpaw Yarbrough, allowing Cooper to squeeze in there...If there’s a big separation on the scoreboard (for better or worse), we should see at least one of Paul Campbell, John Curtiss or Zach Pop make their Marlins regular season debut. On the flip side, Anthony Bass will get his first opportunity to pitch in 2021 if a save situation presents itself...Starling Marte will attempt to turn the page on a miserable offensive day.
Starling Marte's only career games striking out 4+ times without getting on base
